12:36:37 From Reed Robins : I didn’t vote in that election so I could vote in the other one… 12:36:42 From Darrell Smith : Ray that’s great. 12:36:44 From Adam Goldman : Reed!! 12:37:01 From kennethpage : Reed!!!!! 12:37:12 From Reed Robins : SO sorry I missed it. :( 12:37:38 From Ray Toler : I voted Chicago-style: Early AND Often. 12:37:57 From jraoul : Reed — you and I didn’t get counted. Fraud! 12:38:00 From Ray Toler : I had a hard time picking a favorite. 12:38:12 From Adam Goldman : JR!! 12:38:12 From Bob Turner : Ray: I thought that applied to Nevada!! 12:38:29 From jraoul : You go, Stephanie! 12:38:35 From Ken Thies : Go, Stephanie! :-) 12:38:47 From Ray Toler : I don’t see my dogs’ votes in that table… why aren’t their votes being counted??? 12:38:59 From kennethpage : Ray!!!! 12:39:24 From Reed Robins : For me chunks, and MWEQ, and the FET-76 12:39:35 From Reed Robins : That FET 76 is SO good! 12:39:49 From David Gottshalk : Nice one Glen 12:39:49 From Reed Robins : MWEQ I use on every project though… 12:39:55 From jraoul : One of my favorite features of DP is this webinar and community 12:39:58 From xavi c : t 12:40:04 From Tom Lewis : No need for a recount!!! 12:40:32 From Bob Turner : TapLoud: I logged out of the Webinar to make sure I was logged in to Zoom prior to joining the meeting... I was (I am). When I join the MOTU meeting, I get a message that says "You are about to join a meeting that does not belong to us05web.zoom.us. Do you want to continue?" Do you think this might be my problem? 12:40:55 From Ray Toler : Reed, the FET-76 is one of only two plug-ins already instantiated in my default template. 12:41:04 From Geoff Dodson : Glenn: Please post that summary chart on the user site 12:41:12 From Ken Thies : Yes, full mixer in the sidebar - I rely on that a lot. 12:41:15 From Glenn Workman : Geoff: I will. 12:41:23 From Ray Toler : Klanghelm’s VUMT being the other. 12:41:24 From Reed Robins : Good to know Ray, It beats the UA stuff for me much of the time. 12:41:36 From Edward Auslender @ L.A. Music Lab : Glenn, Yes please, that would begreat 12:41:42 From john mazzei : I need to start using Window Sets more. 12:41:44 From Ray Toler : It’s my default parallel compression compressor. 12:42:13 From Reed Robins : I’m going to ty it NY style Ray!! 12:42:19 From Ray Toler : John, I go hot and cold about using them. They’re awesome, and then I get out of the habit, but when I get back into the habit, they’re sooo good and I’m happy all over again. 12:42:20 From Adam Goldman : Plus a MIDI track 12:42:46 From Ray Toler : Reed - it’s been really effective for me. I’m not an expert with that, but I’ve been happy with the results. 12:43:07 From john mazzei : Ray, old inefficient habits die hard! Ha Ha! 12:43:15 From What ? : Matt volume dropped or just me ? 12:43:21 From Ray Toler : John, yes they do. 12:43:25 From Adam Goldman : constant here, What? 12:43:30 From Ray Toler : What? - I didn 12:43:34 From Ray Toler : t notice it. 12:43:41 From Reed Robins : Ray - this series with Matt has been so good for me getting his sense of the best plugs supplied by MOTU. 12:43:44 From Ray Toler : (That’s my new typing style, by the way) 12:43:52 From Adam Goldman : Ray, y 12:43:53 From Adam Goldman : es 12:44:19 From Ray Toler : Reed, yeah, I’ve got a new respect for several of them that I might have only loaded once, didn’t “get” and moved on. Diamond Drive is a good example. 12:44:19 From jraoul : A 12:44:21 From jraoul : dam! 12:44:30 From Ray Toler : Good on 12:44:32 From Reed Robins : Ray - Exactly! 12:44:33 From Ray Toler : e, Adalm 12:44:34 From Adam Goldman : JR: that’s what we all give 12:44:43 From Edward Auslender @ L.A. Music Lab To Glenn Workman(privately) : Thanks, yes please, do post my link to Let Me Breathe 12:44:50 From kennethpage : Adam nice 12:44:52 From Ray Toler : The crowd’s getting punchy! 12:45:04 From Adam Goldman : Ray: DUCK!! 12:45:05 From Glenn Workman To Edward Auslender @ L.A. Music Lab(privately) : Dropbox or other (soundcloud, website, whatever?) 12:45:10 From Reed Robins : Ray - I blame Adam. 12:45:18 From Adam Goldman : Reed: most folks do 12:45:23 From Reed Robins : :) 12:45:23 From Ray Toler : We all blame Adam 12:45:31 From Ray Toler : (What are we blaming him for right now?) 12:45:34 From Adam Goldman : I’m tough. I can take it) 12:45:40 From Ray Toler : Let’s vote on it! 12:45:43 From Reed Robins : Punchy crowd. 12:45:46 From Edward Auslender @ L.A. Music Lab To Glenn Workman(privately) : the dropbox link, so anyone can listen, thank you 12:45:58 From Tom Lewis : Adam: Philadelphia Tough! 12:46:07 From Adam Goldman : we do not play! 12:46:14 From Ray Toler : I would really like the Tracks window columns to be manually sizeable. 12:46:27 From Adam Goldman : That’d be a good call, Ray 12:46:38 From Adam Goldman : custom width 12:46:40 From Glenn Workman : DP Straw Poll posted here. Its a zip file with the poll in Apple’s Numbers format & Microsoft Excell format: https://www.freqsound.com/motuuserfiles/DPStrawPoll.zip 12:46:41 From Ray Toler : Adding it to my massive feature request email. 12:46:45 From jraoul : Ray +1 12:46:57 From kennethpage : Thanks Glenn 12:47:10 From Stephanie Gauthier : Thanks Glenn 12:47:19 From jraoul : And also I wish the rec button wasn’t bound to the Input column, and the play to the Output 12:47:20 From Tom Lewis : Thanks Glenn! 12:48:13 From What ? : is there an option for pre and post fader? 12:48:32 From Ray Toler : What? Where? 12:48:48 From David Gottshalk : Which insert slot is the last slot before the output on a track or a master. In others If I want for example a reverb on the last insert before the output which insert slot would that be? 12:48:51 From Adam Goldman : What?/Ray: I’ll get Matt to comment on that 12:48:51 From jraoul : Could he slow down through that navigation? 12:49:02 From Glenn Workman : What: In the mixer there is a small black triangle divider you can drag upwards to separate pre/post fader effects. 12:49:38 From Ray Toler : David - bottom slot in the inserts shown. 12:49:42 From What ? : when setting up presets, can you specify pre, post fader 12:50:15 From Ray Toler : What ?, there’s a little handle at the bottom of the inserts. If you drag that up, it “splits” the inserts. The ones on top are pre, the ones on bottom are post. 12:50:24 From Glenn Workman : What: I replied above - There’s a small black triangle you can drag up to separate pre/post 12:50:36 From Ray Toler : Ah. Then, what Glenn said. 12:50:39 From David Gottshalk : Thanks Ray 12:50:46 From jraoul : Tx, Adam 12:50:49 From Michel Gauvin : Use Cammand and Title bar 12:51:08 From Glenn Workman : David: All plugs are processed top to bottom as they appear in the mixer. 12:51:30 From john mazzei : I would like to see how he created that Webinar Presets folder. From DP or from the Finder? 12:51:45 From Glenn Workman : john m: Its automatic, DP creates it. 12:52:07 From Zab Skornik : Is it possible to copy the saved preset in audio folder within other folders? I mean keeping it so in the audio folder 12:52:15 From Ray Toler : David, if you have “automatically expand inserts” enabled (or whatever that option is called), when you put something in the bottom insert, it will automatically add another empty row below it. But inserts are processed from top to bottom, so whatever’s lowest in a particular channel will be last. 12:52:29 From What ? : thx ray 12:52:49 From Glenn Workman : Zab: You can manually copy in the Finder (or whatever the Windows equivalent is) or you can simply re-save once its called up the track you want. 12:53:03 From Zab Skornik : OK Thx Glenn 12:53:44 From jraoul : If your preset has more elements than you have slots, does it add slots? 12:53:53 From Adam Goldman : JR: yes 12:53:57 From Glenn Workman : jraoul: Yes, up to 20 per track. 12:54:01 From john mazzei : I see that by choosing to save the preset, I get the option of where to save it. At that point I could create a new folder. 12:54:38 From David Gottshalk : How many inserts can you have on a track or a master? 12:54:46 From Glenn Workman : jraoul: There is a setting in the mini-menu of the Mixing board to “auto” add slots as you use up the last one. 12:54:54 From Glenn Workman : David: 20 12:55:39 From David Gottshalk : Thanks Glen - That’s good to know 12:56:02 From Glenn Workman : David/jrauol: Also up to 20 sends on each track. 12:56:10 From Ray Toler : David, Glenn’s answer is the correct one. My answer is, “more than I’ve ever needed.” :-) 12:56:21 From Adam Goldman : Ray! 12:56:49 From Glenn Workman : David/jrauol: Also, if 20 is not enough for plugs or sends, you can route the output of that track to the input of another and you get 20 more of each. 12:57:01 From Adam Goldman : of course, if 20 wasn’t enough, you could buss to another track (an Aux, eg) and add more there en route to your output 12:57:07 From jraoul : GW - great tip. (Not that I ever use even as many inserts a Ray does) 12:57:10 From David Gottshalk : What situations would you use a mono track for? 12:57:11 From Adam Goldman : What Glenn said ^ 12:57:13 From Adam Goldman : 😊 12:57:35 From Adam Goldman : A mono source, eg a Lead Vocal from a single mic 12:57:42 From Adam Goldman : (for David) 12:57:48 From Glenn Workman : David: To send to a physical output, or something that you don’t want spread across the stereo feed. 12:57:59 From Ray Toler : JRaoul, the tapestry reminds me of the cover of a Fleet Foxes album… same era at least. 12:58:00 From Adam Goldman : What Glenn said ^ 12:58:08 From Ray Toler : tapestry / painting 12:58:18 From Ray Toler : What Adam and Glenn said. 12:58:32 From David Gottshalk : Everyday is a school day - Thank again Glenn 12:58:45 From David Gottshalk : Thanks again 12:59:03 From Adam Goldman : sharks gotta keep swimming; DP users gotta keep learning 12:59:06 From What ? : is there a way to extend the 10.2 limit per channel? We sometimes work in 22.2 12:59:13 From Darrell Smith : Adam for the win 12:59:13 From Benoit Widemann : If a second insert is set after the phaser, is it already stereo? 12:59:29 From Benoit Widemann : I mean the mono-to-stereo phaser 12:59:31 From Glenn Workman : Other: You might also want to pan an effect elsewhere: Say for example you have a horn section panned hard left, but you assign a mono slap or reverb to that track and pan it hard right. The dry signal is left and the verb or delay is right. Neat effect. 12:59:43 From Ray Toler : Benoit, I think so. 12:59:52 From Glenn Workman : Benoit: Yes. 12:59:52 From Ken Thies : Benoit, yes it is. 13:00:01 From Charles White : rvox from Waves doesn’t travel well from mono to stereo. 13:00:26 From Ken Thies : Any plug that comes out stereo, at that point the signal becomes stereo for anything downstream. 13:00:39 From Adam Goldman : KT: yes 13:00:54 From Glenn Workman : Ken: Yes, but you can of course use the Trim plug-in to collapse that image to whatever width you might want. 13:01:02 From Ray Toler : What ? - are you talking about surround? 13:01:41 From Ray Toler : I’m neurotic about everything. 13:01:48 From Darrell Smith : Adam I have a film scoring question for Matt regarding markers and hitting a mark with a solid measure number, when the opportunity arises. I hope this makes sense. 13:01:58 From jraoul : There’s something about What?’s name that makes every reply to him sound confrontational. 13:02:14 From Ray Toler : lol. 13:02:19 From Adam Goldman : Darrell: Sounds good…probably best when he opens for DP general questions 13:02:21 From Russ Pfeifer : agreed 13:02:29 From Darrell Smith : Adam; roger that 13:02:30 From Ray Toler : I liked my “What ? Where?” earlier. Made me laugh. 13:02:34 From Glenn Workman : What?: If you want to change your name you can usually click on your own picture/name and there’s a popup to change that. 13:02:35 From Adam Goldman : JR: What? 13:02:52 From jraoul : What? Don’t go changin' 13:03:26 From John Flaherty : OK, that was my connection. 13:03:34 From Darrell Smith : But film composers want a wide dynamic range 13:03:41 From Ray Toler : Not to try and please us, anyway, right JR? 13:04:34 From Edward Auslender @ L.A. Music Lab : I have a MacPro (2013 Trash Can version) and need to buy a new Solid State Hard Drive that I will use for my DP Projects… Looking at OWC and there are so many choices… Any suggestions anyone? 13:04:41 From Darrell Smith : Billy Joel for the win. 13:04:55 From jraoul : Darrell! 13:05:08 From Adam Goldman : Edward: size does matter. :-P 13:05:16 From Ray Toler : Edward, I’ve been very happy with my Samsung EVOs. I’ll find the exact model... 13:05:19 From Darrell Smith : 52nd street was my jam. 13:05:23 From Edward Auslender @ L.A. Music Lab : Size and speed! Haha 13:05:35 From Glenn Workman : Once Matt is done his demo portion: If you need to ask a question: you can open the Participants panel and click the Raise hand button. Adam or Matt will send a request to unmute your mic to ask your question. 13:05:41 From Edward Auslender @ L.A. Music Lab : thanks Ray 13:05:42 From Adam Goldman : Have some EVOs too…very good ones 13:06:03 From Adam Goldman : If you haven’t joined them, there are two great Facebook groups for DP: MOTU Digital Performer https://www.facebook.com/groups/31959118409 and MOTUGuru https://www.facebook.com/groups/270005501025380 13:06:07 From Darrell Smith : Adam good idea and I’m shocked you came up with it. Lol! 13:06:09 From Ray Toler : Edward, I have the Samsung SSD 860s in 1 and 2tb sizes. Those are 2.5” drives, so I don’t know if they specifically fit in the 2013 (I have a 2012 5,1). 13:06:19 From jraoul : GW/Adam — I’m still having trouble getting my controller pedal to function with VIs. Should I bog this down, or send it to MOTU Tech? 13:06:20 From Edward Auslender @ L.A. Music Lab : Thanks Adam, looking at them now 13:06:20 From Zab Skornik : I have a special question about Ambeo Sennheiser A-B Convertor plug-in. With DP9 I could not be able to create the specialization of these mikes Do you think it will be possible to read it choosing the space between front or back presence as it possible to do with in Protools ? https://fr-fr.sennheiser.com/ambeo-abconverter 13:06:24 From Adam Goldman : here to keep you on your toes, D 13:06:40 From Glenn Workman : Ray: The ones in trashcan macs are more like small circuit boards I believe. 13:06:44 From Charles White : Try rVox 13:06:53 From Adam Goldman : JR: what’s the issue there? 13:07:04 From Darrell Smith : Does Matt have a UAD endorsement? good grief 13:07:17 From Ray Toler : Ah, the m.2 style, Glenn? 13:07:41 From Matt LaPoint : Link https://www.dropbox.com/s/hk9lsa4qkj78t2j/Webinar%20Presets.zip?dl=0 How to Install Webinar Presets: 1. Might be a good connection if needed. 13:08:56 From Ray Toler : Edward, if it takes the drives that look more like a RAM stick, I don’t have specific experience with those. This is the drive that I use in my 5,1: https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Inch-Internal-MZ-76E1T0B-AM/dp/B078DPCY3T 13:09:00 From Zab Skornik To Glenn Workman(privately) : serialzab@gmail.com 13:09:06 From Darrell Smith : Glenn: thanks 13:10:53 From What ? : I’ll try it. thx Adam and Matt 13:11:08 From Glenn Workman To Zab Skornik(privately) : Ccd you both on a short email. 13:11:09 From Edward Auslender @ L.A. Music Lab : It worked, presets added and working. Thanks Matt! 13:11:39 From Edward Auslender @ L.A. Music Lab : in my DP they show up alphabetical 13:12:15 From Edward Auslender @ L.A. Music Lab : thanks Ray 13:12:55 From Dan Wool : I concur about what hat Matt said about more than 10.1 projects. I’ve done this a lot using bussing, and delivering non-interleaved files. 13:13:02 From Glenn Workman : I’ll put Matt’s Webinar preset instructions and the file in the motuuserfiles later today. If you want to save the chat with that info now - At any time you can save the chat by clicking on the 3 dot bubble that is in the Chat typing field 13:14:05 From Edward Auslender @ L.A. Music Lab : Ray, that SSD is internal, I need an external one that is fast… 13:14:05 From Glenn Workman : Pro Tools still WON’T be able to figure the mono/stereo plug movement - it simply bitches at you. 13:14:21 From Mark Rasmussen : Glenn, Did I miss a folder of presets that were posted? Can you repost here? Thanks 13:14:26 From Carlton Rice : I need to get more detail as to what where the Common Settings folder is. 13:14:32 From Adam Goldman : Edward, you can put it in an enclosure, if you want 13:14:35 From Charles White : What do you folks like for horn VIs on pop songs? 13:14:39 From Glenn Workman : From Matt LaPoint to Everyone: (1:07 PM)

How to Install Webinar Presets:
1. Create a mono or stereo audio track
2. View the track in the mixer
2. At the very top, click on the Insert Presets slot. In the menu, go to
“Open Inserts Settings Folder”.
3. Put the Webinar Presets in the Common Folder 13:14:50 From Mark Rasmussen : Thanks Glenn 13:14:58 From Glenn Workman : Mark: I just reposted Matt’s posting. 13:15:05 From Mark Rasmussen : :) 13:15:23 From Caxa : @Charles For what it’s worth I use Session Horns Pro (Kontakt) 13:15:29 From Adam Goldman : Charles: I use Kontakt Session Horns for a lot of horn writing (though end up playing real horns of what I’ve written, but the plug sounds good.) 13:15:33 From Ray Toler : Charles, I typically use my Integra-7, and it’s ok… I’ve heard good things about the Native Instruments Session Horns Pro library, though. 13:15:34 From Adam Goldman : What Caxa said ^ 13:15:41 From Glenn Workman : Carlton: If you let DP take you there, you can see the path in the Finder (Mac). Not sure with Windows. 13:15:49 From Ray Toler : What Adam said about what Caxa said. 13:15:50 From Caxa : What Adam said* 13:16:01 From Charles White : Anybody try East/West? 13:16:03 From Peter Buchta : I think of aux channels with reverb efx as separate rooms. 13:16:04 From Adam Goldman : (except I forgot “pro”) 😊 13:16:24 From Carlton Rice To Glenn Workman(privately) : Thanks. 13:16:24 From Glenn Workman : Carlton: Open Inserts Settings folder from that drop down menu at the top of the track. 13:16:34 From Ray Toler : Yeah, the pro library is apparently the one to go for from Native Instruments. 13:16:58 From jraoul : There’s a bunch of other sub-folders in the Insert Settings Folders — is there any way to combine them? 13:17:04 From Maestro DL Styles : Happy pre Friday the 13th week session today. Thanks Glen for reposting ;) 13:17:28 From Charles White : Thanks! 13:17:49 From Glenn Workman : jraoul: You can copy any from one to another and delete any you don’t need/want. 13:17:56 From jraoul : They don’t appear in the Finder 13:18:04 From Adam Goldman : Glenn said what Matt said Glenn said ^ 13:18:16 From Glenn Workman : Carlton: You can see the path at the bottom of Matt’s screen right now. 13:18:58 From UltraVioletIdea.com (gReg Silvus) : Adam: 🤦🏻‍♂️ 13:18:59 From Glenn Workman : jraoul: You can’t see them? 13:19:34 From john mazzei : Will the “restore last insert settings” be remembered after closing and re-opening the project? 13:19:45 From Adam Goldman : Benoit: a new question, yes? 13:20:02 From jraoul : Nope. There’s some sub-folders that MOTU provides e.g. Bass Guitar, Drums, Guitar, Mastering, and then there’s the ones I just added from Matt. On the Finder, I just see Matt’s. 13:20:54 From Glenn Workman : jraoul: Might be in the “hidden” Library folder. Hold option in the Finder Go menu and see if that’s the case. 13:21:07 From Peter Buchta : 👍 13:21:12 From Mike Loudermilk : I’m sorry, i must have missed it…where do you download the webinar presets? 13:21:28 From Ray Toler : https://www.dropbox.com/s/hk9lsa4qkj78t2j/Webinar%20Presets.zip?dl=0 13:21:37 From Mike Loudermilk : thank you 13:22:40 From jraoul : Glenn — nope, not there, either. Weird. 13:22:45 From Victor LeComer : Glenn I will email an idea that I have for the collective to create this weekend. Just for consideration with something I’ve already started. 13:23:00 From jraoul : Glenn — want me to send you some screenshots? 13:23:01 From Glenn Workman : jraoul: Library/Application Support/MOTU/Digital Performer/Insert Settings Presets. 13:23:03 From Adam Goldman : Victor: cool 13:23:20 From jraoul : Yup, that’s where I went. 13:23:21 From Glenn Workman : jraoul: Sure. 13:23:33 From Glenn Workman : Victor: Sounds fun glenn@freqsound.com 13:23:52 From TapLoudCmdrFunk_chat : Windows folks: Put Matt's stuff here... C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Local\MOTU\Digital Performer\Insert Settings Presets\MAS\Common\ Replace "YOURUSERNAME" with your user name, and you might want to add an "MLweb" folder in the "common" dir to keep all of Matt's settings consolidated. 13:25:02 From Glenn Workman : jraoul: They are in the NON-hidden library for me, same path. 13:25:07 From Adam Goldman : TLCF: Nice 13:25:44 From Glenn Workman : jraoul: Library/Application Support/MOTU/Digital Performer/Insert Settings Presets/MAS/ 13:25:45 From jraoul : Glenn — ah. So how do I combine them? 13:25:56 From Stephanie Gauthier : Thank you TLCF! 13:26:02 From jraoul : Two Finder windows and drag from one to the other? 13:26:04 From Glenn Workman : jraoul: You should be able to drag copy in the Finder if you want. 13:26:16 From Adam Goldman : What JR said ^ 13:26:54 From Glenn Workman : I love the Kontakt and others still use an icon of a floppy disk to save files. 13:26:59 From john mazzei : This is why I print all my MIDI tracks to audio. Update protection. 13:27:14 From Adam Goldman : Floppy 😊 13:27:25 From Glenn Workman : john m: Always a good idea for archiving or having to move to another DAW years in the future. 13:27:32 From john mazzei : Yes! 13:27:43 From kennethpage : Yes Glenn 13:28:07 From David Gottshalk : It’s brilliant not boring at all 13:28:16 From jraoul : GW — Mission accomplished! Thanks for your patience. 13:28:22 From Ray Toler : I have not done it in the past, but in the last year I’ve started printing full stems/audio tracks for projects that I’m archiving. 13:28:22 From Ken Thies : Floppy disk... I was looking for a usb mounted 3.5in floppy drive this morning. Need to write an EPS os to a disk; have the os, have the disks, need a drive to *WRITE* it.... ;-) 13:28:27 From Adam Goldman : JR: nice! 13:28:30 From jraoul : Amazing I could do that while DP was running. 13:28:34 From Adam Goldman : KT 😊 13:28:40 From Bob Turner : I need to bail. Matt cleared up some questions I had on Plugs today! Great!! Have a Great Weekend. Thanks Matt, Glenn, Adam!! See ya Tuesday. 13:28:45 From Adam Goldman : bye Bob! 13:28:50 From Darrell Smith : This is brilliant. Again speeding up your workflow. 13:28:52 From Ken Thies : See you Tuesday, Bob! 13:28:53 From David Gottshalk : I don’t think you can find training like this anyone 13:28:57 From kennethpage : Bye Bob 13:28:59 From Glenn Workman : Ken: I’ve got one, if you want to send me files I can make the disks and send them to you. I have about 1000 brand new floppies still. 13:29:07 From Darrell Smith : Bob, oh no you need bail/ 13:29:10 From Darrell Smith : ? 13:29:11 From Glenn Workman : Bye Bob. 13:29:18 From Ray Toler : Ken, I keep the PC I built in the early 00s around solely because it has a 3.5” floppy on it. 13:29:25 From jraoul : Bob - good luck with that in California 13:29:27 From Adam Goldman : Darrell: hopefully his boat’s not taking on water 13:29:43 From Darrell Smith : Have a great weekend Bob 13:29:46 From Ken Thies : Glenn: I just ,might. Trying to justify ~$30 for a drive I might use 3 times. 13:29:53 From Ray Toler : Darrell, I see what you did there. 13:30:19 From Maestro DL Styles : Sill have my usb to 3.5 just in case the American pickers need one. 13:30:28 From Darrell Smith : Thanks Ray…we share sardonicism. 13:30:37 From Darrell Smith : Is that a word? 13:30:46 From Glenn Workman : Ken: Happy to do it, just let me know what format for the disks. Mine floppy drive is still in the original iMac bondi blue colors too :) 13:30:49 From Adam Goldman : it is now, creator of MOTUnity tm 13:30:53 From Ken Thies : Ray: I kept my first 2 Linux PCs for quote a while, for that very reason. Eventually both of them ended up with bad driver cards, and I couldn't read the drives anyway. 13:30:54 From Darrell Smith : Wry. 13:30:59 From Adam Goldman : (AKA Darrell Smith) 13:31:05 From Darrell Smith : Lol! 13:31:14 From Ray Toler : Ken - one thing to take into account with your research… not all USB floppy drives can handle non-standard formats like Ensoniq. That may be handled these days by software like Chicken Translator, but back in the day, you had to have a non-USB drive to do some of those writes. 13:31:21 From Glenn Workman : sardonicism n. The quality of being sardonic 13:31:28 From Darrell Smith : lol 13:31:32 From Warren McRae : ya’ll are crazy! 13:31:43 From Adam Goldman : Warren, you have no idea 13:31:48 From kennethpage : We’re all crazy 13:31:49 From Adam Goldman : (or maybe you do) 13:31:50 From Ray Toler : Sardonicism is a perfectly cromulent word. 13:31:59 From Adam Goldman : Ray!! 13:32:01 From Warren McRae : yup, I do 13:32:05 From Darrell Smith : Warren; what up hey Barry Marshall and his wife are celebrating there 50 year anniversary. 13:32:08 From Adam Goldman : Corpulent too 13:32:09 From Benoit Widemann : What happens if the preset has more items than the current number of slots in mixer? 13:32:30 From Warren McRae : today? 13:32:41 From jraoul : Benoit - I’ve been told it adds slots as needed 13:32:41 From Darrell Smith : Ollie hit me up I don’t know 13:32:44 From Glenn Workman : Benoit: It might add them automatically up to 20, otherwise add first then use Insert Preset. 13:32:58 From Warren McRae : Ok, I’ll hit them up.. Thanx 13:32:59 From Maestro DL Styles : anyone still have an ASR keyboard. just curious 13:33:11 From Darrell Smith : It might be a surprise Warren. 13:33:11 From Ray Toler : Maestro, I have an ASR rack. 13:33:15 From Benoit Widemann : Thanks. I suspected so. :) 13:33:16 From David Gottshalk : Could Matt do a lesson just on EQ and Compression using Motu Plugins? 13:33:30 From jraoul : David +1 13:33:42 From Glenn Workman : David: He has in the past, just hasn’t been posted yet I think. 13:33:44 From deena : I would like that also 13:33:44 From Ray Toler : For Ensoniq keys, I have an EPS, SQ-80, and TS-10. 13:33:58 From deena : Vocals 13:34:06 From Caxa : Where is the hit single preset? 13:34:18 From Glenn Workman : Caxa:) 13:34:19 From kennethpage : CAAXA!!!!!!! 13:34:21 From Ray Toler : Sardonically, Darrell, sardonically. 13:34:33 From Adam Goldman : hence ‘frame’ pun…mixing to pictures, after all 13:34:59 From M &M : Meter and BPM 13:35:58 From jraoul : Have the editor recut it to your hit points. 13:36:05 From Maestro DL Styles : Ray.. that brings back the days when I still had hair lol 13:36:07 From kennethpage : jr!!!!! 13:36:07 From David Gottshalk : I’d like to understand the frequency ranges of instruments and how you would EQ and compress it - So a webinar on mixing would be great 13:36:18 From Adam Goldman : JR!!…KP you beat me to it. 😊 13:36:18 From jraoul : Tx, Kenneth. 13:36:20 From Dave Hayward : Suggestion for future webinar subject: loudness-normalising. Ie use of LKFS/LUFS units and a suitable plugin such as Nugen Audio MasterCheck…. 13:36:35 From Benoit Widemann : Dave: +1 13:36:46 From Nozomi Takasu : @Stephanie —I didn’t have moment to write in so it’s very late comment, but your answer for vote was great! The divided # made me laugh so much ;D 13:36:52 From john mazzei : I’ve not had great success with the Create Tracks dialog. That might be a good 101 session. 13:37:10 From Ray Toler : Film Scoring 102. 13:37:15 From Maestro DL Styles : Be glad when these webinars post in 2091 13:37:29 From David Gottshalk : A lot of musicians like myself would like to learn how to mix and master our own songs as we can’t afford the professionals 13:37:35 From Benoit Widemann : If today was a 101, I’m glad to begin. :) 13:37:36 From Mark Rasmussen : 2091? Aren’t you optimistic 13:37:37 From Zab Skornik : I am a melodyne user to correct pitch or quantize solo recorded instrument like cello or violin. I’d like to learn how DP could help me to make these punctual corrections without Melodyne expertise Could Matt one day give a lesson about that ? 13:38:00 From Dave Hayward : We’ll all be dead…. 13:38:10 From Maestro DL Styles : mark ;) 13:38:21 From Mark Rasmussen : On my reincarnation 2230. 13:38:25 From Adam Goldman : Benoit!! 13:38:57 From Ray Toler : Darrell, it may not be exactly what you were looking for, but I found these two videos from Brian Ralston to be really clear and helpful, esp. with regard to calculating tempos from markers. 13:38:59 From Dan Wool : Has Matt covered the Find Tempo for Locked Markers feature in a webinar? 13:39:02 From Ray Toler : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BYDz_UnMy0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pogtzz4Pw98 13:39:19 From Peter Buchta : I was working on location, live with my band on a Mackie 32R mixer. I have a portable HD connected to the mixer for recording. The DL32R produces a multi-channel wave file. (.wav) How can I import this file into DP10? Will I need to get a third party app like Wave Agent or RME WAV File Batch Processor? DL32r shows up and is available as an audio interface in Digital Performer, but I haven’t had time to set up and work with it.. I think that this may be an alternative way to get the tracks into DP, but it requires more work to do so. 13:39:20 From kennethpage : Thanks Ray 13:39:23 From David Gottshalk : Matt - For beginners just starting out on learning EQ and compression - Which two motu plugins do you recommend? 13:39:28 From Ray Toler : Dan, he has, but I wouldn’t mind another session. Those two videos I just linked cover it pretty well. 13:40:49 From Ray Toler : David - Not sure what Matt will say, but for EQ, my go-to 99% of the time is Masterworks EQ. For compression, I really found the Dynamics plug UI to be helpful, but once I’d figured it out, I moved to the FET-76 for most things. 13:40:51 From Dan Wool : Ray: Cool. I’ve never found Find Tempo useful, but there may be better ways to use it 13:41:11 From Benoit Widemann : Nice one… 13:41:12 From jraoul : Darrell — if a simple tempo change is too weird for the music, you might also play with the various curves in that Change Tempo window. 13:41:45 From kennethpage : Eagle eye Adam 13:42:02 From Michael Canavan : Sounds like Darrell gets to ask the last question today. My question is more of a suggestion for a future webinar: DP is vastly different in a few key ways than other DAWs, Chunks, V-Racks, separate MIDI tracks from instruments, Clips and non linear MIDI in tracks etc. etc. All of this means that coming from other DAWs people can really struggle with DP. It would be cool to see a webinar on the things specifically about DP that are different, how they work comparatively etc. Going over Chunks and how tu use them is one thing, but explaining the way they work with V-Racks, VS working completely in a Sequence Chun etc. Something for people coming from other DAWs to wrap their head around. 13:42:03 From Ray Toler : Dan, the big “ah-hah” thing that made it work for me was being methodical about setting the marker priorities (important, very important, etc.) prior to running that command. 13:42:45 From Brian : Thanks Matt, that Tempo-Marker change is really useful! 13:42:47 From David Gottshalk : Ok Thank you Ray 13:42:55 From john mazzei : What click sound is Matt using? 13:42:58 From UltraVioletIdea.com (gReg Silvus) : Fantasticamazing! 13:43:07 From kennethpage : That was Great Darrell & Matt 13:43:15 From Ronnie Lawson : this would be a great “how to” video to have on the MOTU website 13:43:33 From Ray Toler : Darrell, I posted two video links above that I found *really* helpful. What Matt showed was very similar, but if you need an additional reference, those videos might be useful. 13:43:33 From Ken Thies : Just a note, if the tempo change happens jarringly, use the ramp instead of the flatline when defining the tempo change. Just a thought. 13:43:39 From Ronnie Lawson : the technique that Matt just showed to get a locked marker to hit on a downbeat 13:44:09 From Darrell Smith : JR: Great sugggestion 13:44:22 From jraoul : Darrell - you may have missed my earlier suggestion in the Chat: Have the editor recut it to your hit points. 13:44:28 From Glenn Workman : David: There is a decent frequency chart for many instruments, including both note range, and upper frequency (harmonics) range here. The original site seems to have been hijacked, but the wayback machine has it archived here: http://web.archive.org/web/20180616231002/http://www.independentrecording.net/irn/resources/freqchart/main_display.htm 13:44:29 From Dan Wool : Ray: Thanks…It’s always been after for me to just wing it than spend the time to set it up 13:44:39 From Dan Wool : *faster 13:44:53 From Russ Pfeifer : See ya all next week - gotta go move a Hammond 13:45:03 From Mark Rasmussen : Glenn: Nice Chart thanks 13:45:05 From kennethpage : Bye Russ 13:45:06 From Adam Goldman : Lift with the legs, Russ 😊 Stay safe, pal 13:45:09 From Darrell Smith : JR; Cool 13:45:12 From Dave Hayward : Spinach! 13:45:15 From Ray Toler : Dan, I totally get that.. I’ve normally been trying to wing it (and normally unsuccessfully) until I finally give up and go with the find tempo command. :) 13:45:19 From Adam Goldman : SPINACH!!! Dave!! 13:45:34 From Darrell Smith : Ray: Where are those videos posted? 13:45:50 From What ? : i love this plugin I just don’t get the warm up time that the manual mentioned 13:46:05 From Glenn Workman : Russ: Hernias R Us! 13:46:22 From Ray Toler : Linked above, but here they are again: 13:46:27 From Ray Toler : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BYDz_UnMy0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pogtzz4Pw98 13:46:44 From UltraVioletIdea.com (gReg Silvus) : Every time I think...”Oh, I’ll join just for the convo at the beginning, then get other stuff done”...then someone asks a great question that I didn’t know I needed answered. Thanks, Darrell and Matt 13:46:58 From Adam Goldman : gReg! 13:46:59 From Ray Toler : What ? - yes, that has always confused me, especially the whole “capture state” thing. 13:47:14 From Ronnie Lawson : thanks for the links Ray 13:47:15 From Glenn Workman : gReg: I think that’s the prevailing reality for most of us here. 13:47:24 From UltraVioletIdea.com (gReg Silvus) : FoSho 13:47:26 From Darrell Smith : Ray: thanks a whole bunch 13:47:35 From Ronnie Lawson : great questions Darrell 13:47:39 From UltraVioletIdea.com (gReg Silvus) : Why can’t I quit you all? 13:47:40 From Darrell Smith : I love MOTUnity!!!!!! 13:47:51 From Ray Toler : Darrell - my pleasure. I think we’re learning some of the same stuff at the same time. :) 13:47:51 From Darrell Smith : Thanks Ronnie! 13:47:54 From Benoit Widemann : Mystery is “Adjust side-chain frequency response” 13:47:55 From Dan Wool : I do! Ha! 13:48:07 From John Flaherty : That was a classic! 13:48:11 From Ken Thies : It actually does, but it's very subtle. I think I read that it has to do with the frequency of sensitivity. 13:48:34 From What ? : plug-in voodoo 13:48:39 From john mazzei : Is there a side chain input on the MW Leveler? 13:48:40 From Ray Toler : I’m just thankful the director is so patient…. I’ve been having to learn SO much along the way on this project, compounded by writer’s block early in the proces. 13:48:48 From Benoit Widemann : is there an input for that side-chain on leveler? 13:48:52 From Dave Hayward : Leveler confused me at first but I has repaid some work with in the last year or two… I love it. 13:49:20 From Darrell Smith : Ray: I can Raylate. 13:49:27 From Dave Hayward : IT has repaid…. 13:49:31 From Ray Toler : Look at you branding ME now! 13:49:36 From Peter Buchta : Correct. 13:49:37 From Ray Toler : Raylate™ 13:49:55 From Dan Wool : Benoit: No side chain on Leveler 13:49:56 From Darrell Smith : Marketing genius. 13:50:07 From Ray Toler : MOTUnity, Raylate… you’re a branding machine, and the former Marketing exec in me approves! 13:50:18 From Benoit Widemann : So I guess the frequency in question is taken into the input signal 13:50:23 From Glenn Workman : glenn@freqsound.com 13:50:23 From Peter Buchta : Me. 13:50:29 From Darrell Smith : Ray: Matt just unlocked my with your help creative block 13:50:29 From Dave Hayward : Benoit: correct. 13:50:31 From Benoit Widemann : too bad it’s not displayed on the pot 13:50:43 From Benoit Widemann : (the Hz) 13:51:13 From Peter Buchta : Thanks Glenn. 13:51:45 From Reed Robins : That’s what I’d do! 13:51:49 From Scott Dorton : Got to bail. Thanks everybody. Have a Happy Day! 13:51:50 From Zab Skornik : I have to go now Thank you all ! Have a pleasant and safe WE Greetings from Paris :-) 13:51:58 From Ray Toler : Darrell, that’s great! I just respotted my entire project over the last two days, and now I’m a tiny bit overwhelmed by the length of some of the cues. But I’ve got some ideas... 13:52:01 From kennethpage : Bye Zab 13:52:09 From Zab Skornik : :-) 13:52:22 From Adam Goldman : bye Zab 13:52:48 From Darrell Smith : Ray: What Terence Blanchard resonates with me…..”just start”. 13:53:01 From Glenn Workman : The Mackie mixer I was using (recording from) was the DL32R. 13:53:04 From kennethpage : Yes D 13:53:07 From Darrell Smith : Said insert 13:53:20 From Adam Goldman : Terence B was great 13:53:22 From Ray Toler : Yeah… that’s been what I’ve been trying. If deleted MIDI data was a physical thing, my studio would be covered in it right now, though. :) 13:53:41 From Warren McRae : What Darrell said! 13:53:55 From Michael Canavan : Wish there was a way to know ho far along MOTU is on porting DP to Mac Silicon. 13:54:02 From Darrell Smith : Ray: the vomit test works the best. 13:54:04 From Tom Lewis : Ray: I hear ya! 13:54:24 From Darrell Smith : Throw up and clean it up 13:54:25 From Reed Robins : Anyone remember which window Matt was using for the change of tempo within the markers? Darrell? 13:54:33 From Maestro DL Styles : Happy weekend everyone. Stay safe !!! 13:54:43 From Ray Toler : Darrell, eh… I have no response. That made me laugh. 13:54:44 From kennethpage : Bye M 13:54:45 From art2ro : Ed Martel, what about creating new projects and loading individual chunks for each new project? 13:54:46 From Reed Robins : Just was trying to work with that right now 13:54:48 From Adam Goldman : Reed: Change Tempo, I think 13:54:51 From Dave Hayward : Fat-fingered… like my keyboard playing… 13:55:02 From Reed Robins : Will check it out Adam 13:55:22 From Adam Goldman : 👍 13:55:45 From Glenn Workman : john: You can delete the command from the Key Bindings to prevent it in the future. 13:55:51 From jraoul : Reed - Project -> Conductor Track -> Change Tempo 13:56:01 From Adam Goldman : What JR said ^ 13:56:15 From Ray Toler : What Adam said JR said. 13:56:23 From Reed Robins : :) 13:56:28 From jraoul : What Ray said Adam said I said 13:56:44 From Ray Toler : Saidception. 13:56:49 From jraoul : [this is where What ? should chime in] 13:56:49 From Jefferson Jarvis : Reed: Region>Scale Tempos 13:56:59 From Adam Goldman : "tiny question” 13:57:02 From Adam Goldman : 😊 13:57:06 From Benoit Widemann : Michael: +1 13:57:12 From Adam Goldman : Art2ro…a quick question? 13:57:13 From Benoit Widemann : plugins too 13:57:46 From Darrell Smith : Reed: What Adam said 13:58:05 From Dave Hayward : saidzeplyn 13:58:12 From art2ro : Adam, are you asking me, or if I have a quick question? 13:58:34 From Adam Goldman : Art2ro, just joking about ‘tiny question’ or ‘quick question’ :-P 13:58:51 From Adam Goldman : pay no mind to the bald man behind the curtain 13:58:54 From art2ro : LOL!!
