12:24:42 From Benoit Widemann : Nice cat 12:24:59 From Ken Thies : That was Tabitha. 12:25:08 From Eric Chapelle : Happy Friday everyone! 12:27:42 From Eric Chapelle : I’ve been working on a orchestral ambient piece in Finale that I plan to export a midi file to DP 10. I’m using the VSL Pro 7. 12:27:46 From Glenn Workman : https://www.freqsound.com/motuuserfiles/ 12:27:56 From Glenn Workman : glenn@freqsound.com 12:28:44 From Kerwin Young : Greetings everyone; Happy Friday! 12:28:46 From Eric Chapelle : https://www.ericchapellemusic.com/ambient-music/ And this is a short clip of my ambient piece done on DP 10 Password is “soothing” without the quotes. 12:29:10 From johnflaherty : Tried this link ,and it says Not Found. 12:29:12 From chris : Glenn that is a really nice sound track piece ! 12:30:13 From Garry Norman : https://soundcloud.com/garry-norman1/sets/some-of-my-work-garry-norman 12:30:14 From Caxa : Hi all 12:32:18 From Eric Chapelle : John Flaherty. Which link are you referring too 12:32:46 From Stephanie : Nice music Glenn and Eric! 12:32:58 From Mark Kelso : I use a 24 Ai with an old 896HD and an 8 Pre 12:33:06 From Glenn Workman : Thanks all. 12:33:44 From chris : i used a 2408 for more than a decade got rid of it just a few years ago for the 8282ES 12:34:10 From Eric Chapelle : Thanks Stephanie! I’m almost done with it. It’s almost 8 minutes in length like a symphonic poem. 12:34:53 From Stephanie : Very nice! 12:35:38 From Ray Toler : Good day, all. 12:36:48 From Ray Toler : @russ, only caught the tail end of that, but I still have a mirror door G4 and a G5 that I “froze” for old stuff. I have the same “this is familiar but foreign” experience every time I work in it. 12:37:02 From Eric Chapelle : Love the T-shirt Matt! 12:37:26 From Glenn Workman : Howdy Craig Bauer! 12:37:39 From George Napier : THAT would make my life sssoooooo much easier. Really interested in hearing about that when it’s working! 12:38:28 From Ray Toler : Yeah, 5.1 is one of those things that I get, but don’t *really* get. Especially in terms of what I need to do to hear it in my studio and how to deliver it. 12:39:31 From Adam Goldman : key caster doesn’t show shift as a key, but the letters are UPPER case when you use Shift key 12:40:30 From Russ Pfeifer : Ray - Deja View 12:40:45 From Ray Toler : :-) 12:42:05 From Ross Levinson : What’s the key shortcut app he’s using? 12:42:17 From Ray Toler : Ross: Keycaster 12:42:24 From Ross Levinson : Thanks 12:47:55 From Glenn Workman : Wave cycles arrive closer together to your ear as a sound source approaches because of the speed of sound, and farther apart as the sound source moves away. 12:48:32 From Roque Baños : Hi Glenn, Can you attach an X/Y midi controller to this automation? 12:48:58 From Glenn Workman : Roque: The panner window has a MIDI learn button (the small keyboard in the lower corner) 12:49:13 From Rich Switzer : cheers 12:49:51 From Roque Baños : Great! Thanks Glenn. I’ll try with an 12:49:57 From Ray Toler : I love 10.1, but I 12:50:10 From Craig Hlady : I get beach balls quite a bit when saving 12:50:16 From Ray Toler : but I’ve had a lot more beachballs than any version in the last several. 12:50:26 From Victor LeComer : Ray… But??? 12:50:29 From Glenn Workman : Ray: There is a 10.11 already out. 12:50:31 From Luke Steward : so is matt right ear only of anyone else? 12:50:34 From Jay Woelfel : also known as the spinning pinwheel of death 12:50:40 From John DePace : No issues with 10.1 at all. Hmmmm 12:50:41 From Ray Toler : Sorry, yes, already on 10.11. 12:50:43 From Adam Goldman : Luke: stereo here 12:50:50 From Glenn Workman : Luke: both speakers for me. 12:51:00 From Ray Toler : Most of my issues have been with multi-bounce, but I’ve gotten a couple on saving as well. 12:51:12 From Adam Goldman : if you’re running Catalina 10.15.4, I’ve found it can be a little squirrelly 12:51:19 From Adam Goldman : (for beachballs) 12:51:26 From Luke Steward : hm, strange. my headphones are working fine, dunno what thats about 12:51:33 From Victor LeComer : Ray, thought you meant 10 channels… 12:52:07 From Ray Toler : Victor: Ha! I’m happy when I get good results with 2 channels. :) 12:52:09 From Chris Rinaman : Good to see your disaster response too— thats a good clinic topic! 12:52:15 From Glenn Workman : Adam: I’ve been using 10.15.4 and very few crashes, and I’m also one test version above release. That said I use VERY few VIs, mostly just the MOTU ones. I don’t use the complicated VEP setup that seems to be very popular with this bunch. 12:52:36 From Glenn Workman : Don’t have crashes. 12:53:18 From Adam Goldman : Glenn:don’t have many…especially with DP, but certainly other SW can get mixed results. 12:53:38 From Ray Toler : To clarify, I’m not getting them all the time, just more frequently than since… 8? I’m still on High Sierra, but I do use a *lot* of VIs. 12:53:53 From Simon Foster : I get a lot of crashes and weird stuff with DP10.11 12:54:06 From David Stowell : No crashes here but I’m pedantic about disabling anything- tracks, VI’s, FX etc that I’m not using at any point 12:54:55 From Kerwin Young : Where can we find Brcasti IR's? 12:54:57 From Stephanie : I have also been getting multiple crashes with DP10.11 12:55:25 From Glenn Workman : Kerwin: Matt uploaded an old link for them the other day. I’ll copy and paste it here in a minute. 12:55:39 From Ray Toler : I did post a recent crash experience, along with fix, to the Facebook group. MOTU tech support was great. 12:56:28 From Kerwin Young : Great, Glenn. Thanks 12:56:37 From Glenn Workman : Thanks goodness for the Wayback Machine: Here’s the link for the impulse responses. The links are quite slow and may disappear in the future (its an old unsupported webpage). 12:56:38 From Glenn Workman : https://web.archive.org/web/20190201211631/http://www.samplicity.com/bricasti-m7-impulse-responses/ 12:56:55 From Paul Colombo : I recently updated to DP 10 and have 10.11. It looks like in my account I am able to download 10.11. Is that any different from what I have? Or would something like 10.12 and up be my next download? 12:57:01 From Kerwin Young : Thanks again Glenn!! 12:57:08 From Simon Foster : Also get a regular ‘file can’t be deleted because it is in use (-47)’ when saving 12:57:24 From Ross Levinson : Can you take the Foldown output as a separate output? 12:57:51 From Glenn Workman : Paul: 10.11 is the current release. There is a test cycle in progress (which honestly never seems to end) and that is currently 10.12beta. Not ready for prime time. 12:57:57 From Dave Hayward : Hi Russ P, I apologise for not getting back to you yesterday re PCI424. I haven’t forgotten! … 12:58:07 From Paul Colombo : Thanks Glenn 12:58:59 From Russ Pfeifer : Dave - No Problem. Good to see you back here 12:59:14 From Ray Toler : Oh, man, there’s a flashback ui... 12:59:37 From Russ Pfeifer : Agreed 12:59:50 From Glenn Workman : I use Spectral Effects all the time. 12:59:54 From Roddy J. Betancourt : She sounds like Ziggy from Quantum Leap 13:00:25 From Ray Toler : I used to use it a lot. Not so much in the last 5+ years 13:00:34 From Adam Goldman : Roddy: might be dating yourself there, friend. ;-) 13:00:40 From Roddy J. Betancourt : hahaha 13:01:18 From Glenn Workman : In Sigourney Weaver territory. 13:01:20 From Luke Steward : thats got a few artifacts 13:01:21 From Lance Morrison : Phil Hendrie 13:01:29 From Ross Levinson : Alison Jennnie 13:01:33 From XNE0EDzQEHm8GRxQaLxinmGjSWFg3sTfrEZ5Uy7WYuo= : Is it just me or does anyone else find the lower voice to be kinda sexy:) 13:01:41 From Dave Hayward : Yes me too, I do some voice work for a guy who does cartoon characters and Spectral Effects is very useful… 13:01:42 From Russ Pfeifer : Now we’re Quantum Geeks 13:02:01 From Charles White : Just you. 13:02:07 From Charles White : :) 13:02:12 From Russ Pfeifer : nice 13:02:18 From Garry Norman : QuickScribe please 13:03:13 From Dan Redfeld : Liking that a lot. Would love to do that to a singer and see their reaction. Pretend I didn’t touch a thing.... 13:04:11 From Roddy J. Betancourt : I used this in mid 90s when my nephew was a little boy. I made him sound older… amazing thing is, that is what his voice sounds like a bit now in his 20s! 13:04:20 From Glenn Workman : As a kid I used to play my Chipmunk 45s back at 33 1/3 and there’s a wonderful Irish tenor trio singing the songs, not like the later versions that did it all electronically. 13:04:36 From chris : If you are a sound designer and like extreme spectral effects you should try - http://www.michaelnorris.info/downloads/soundmagicspectralb9.dmg 13:04:42 From Mark Kelso : Has tempo on spectral effect been replaced in effect by all of the new time stretching algorithms or does it do something different? 13:04:46 From Glenn Workman : Thanks Chris. 13:04:46 From jraoul : Glenn-I thought it was Ross Bagdasarian overdubbing himself 13:05:25 From Glenn Workman : jraoul: It probably was him, that’s just what it always sounded like to me. Can’t say I’ve don that since I was about 6 or 8 (currently 62 :) 13:05:55 From Mark Kelso : Glenn: I did the same things when my kids were little. They loved hearing their adult voices 13:06:19 From jraoul : Glenn: Listen to the outro of Alvin’s Christmas. “Let’s do it again!” “Now, now boys, let’s not over do it.” “Whaddyamean over do it? I thought it was pretty” etc. 13:06:22 From Adam Goldman : my 10yr old likes the opposite direction…raising her pitch & formant to get silly chipmunk 13:06:37 From Ray Toler : Carbon Fiber Red. Since it first showed up. 13:06:55 From Ray Toler : I keep flirting with the others, but always come back to red. 13:07:05 From Glenn Workman : Mark: I actually do a very strange example with my students singing some very bizarre vocal phrases, then turn it into parallel 3 part major harmony, then go tweak some parts minor. 13:07:22 From Mark Kelso : Glenn: Cool IDea 13:07:50 From jraoul : GW: Way off topic trivia: Ross Bagdasarian was playwright/novelist William Saroyan’s cousin. They co-wrote “Come On-a My House”, hit for Rosemary Clooney (George Clooney’s aunt). I’ll go now. 13:07:51 From Glenn Workman : Mark: I’ll put an example in the motuuserfiles location sometime later. It still makes me laugh. 13:07:56 From Garry Norman : Lattuga Gustosissima 13:09:06 From Glenn Workman : jraoul: Thanks. Love extra info from any direction (as long as I can remember it correctly). 13:09:43 From Roque Baños : Hi Glenn, I couldn’t attach an XY surround controller to the surround panner using the learn mode, since it involves 2 controllers. Another way to get this? 13:09:48 From Ray Toler : I wish you could set the switch/blend points on the custom color gradient for the meters. 13:10:03 From Craig Hlady : what about modulation sustain colors ? 13:10:38 From Glenn Workman : Craig: There are some options for the controller numbers/colors. Can’t remember offhand how they are assigned, unless you reorder them. 13:11:13 From Glenn Workman : Unicornia is all shaded of purple to grey. 13:12:16 From Adam Goldman : now key caster is showing SHIFT key 13:12:25 From Adam Goldman : (when Matt uses Command as well) 13:12:37 From Luke Steward : ^^ 13:13:55 From Kenny V : Since we are talking audio books…What is the very best layout to record a 30 chapter audio book in mono? 13:15:09 From Kenny V : Can multiple punches in audio track become a consolidated track Ala Protools? 13:15:34 From Glenn Workman : Kenny: Yes. 13:15:39 From Ray Toler : @kenny, I’d set up each chapter as a chunk. And yes, to the consolidated. 13:16:12 From rafa badia : is posible to save themes? 13:17:02 From Kenny V : Can I show each chunk as a numbered track for a global view for quick comparison? 13:17:05 From Caxa : Where is that color palette which looks like a pack of crayons? 13:17:30 From Eric Witt : is this only in audio? 13:17:38 From Ray Toler : Kenny, if that’s a common need, then I’d set up a single chunk with each chapter in a folder. 13:17:54 From Glenn Workman : Caxa: That’s one of several Apple color pickers. When you saw the big color wheel, there were several icons at the top of the window, one was the crayon box. 13:17:54 From Ray Toler : (Assuming you have multiple tracks per chapter) 13:18:08 From Caxa : Ah thanks! 13:18:43 From Glenn Workman : Kenny: You can name the chunks with numbers. You can also assemble those chunks in order in a Song (not Sequence) chunk. 13:18:51 From Kenny V : Ray I am using the word consolidate as a term of art to get rid of tons of out takes and leave me with one 15 minute complete identified wave file and lose all the bad out takes. Is this the case? (Sorry about ignorance) 13:19:04 From Eric Witt : Can bite gain only be used with audio? 13:19:07 From Erik Ibsen-Nowak : Every time I’ve tried setting bite gain w/ “set” that, waveform remains unchanged. 13:19:15 From Erik Ibsen-Nowak : Wonder what I’m doing wrong 13:19:39 From Ray Toler : Kenny, on Youtube, there’s a great MOTU video about doing comps. I’d use that to get your final, then bounce that to a single WAV. 13:19:43 From Ray Toler : I’ll find the link for you. 13:19:45 From Neil McCarroll : Is there a wee to quickly lasso peaks in say a vocal track above a certain dB, to easily find hot sections that you want to reduce? 13:19:51 From Neil McCarroll : a way 13:20:06 From Glenn Workman : rafa: You can save themes, but it can be a bit tweaky to do so. Some folks actually go into the various pref files and “program” their changes and make custom themes. It borders on some programming skills with a text editor. 13:20:56 From Glenn Workman : Neil: There are now presets you can create with the Region commands. Those can be given key commands that don’t even bring up the “apply” window. 13:21:03 From Kenny V : Client needs each chapter as a separate file. I need to eee the whole book as 20 different named tracks. Can do? Can I lose all the extra bad punches so I end up with only 20 named wave files in this project? 13:21:35 From Ray Toler : Kenny: Comping vocals: https://youtu.be/pO0iJi4cqtQ 13:21:40 From Glenn Workman : Neil: Something a compressor might do for you automatically above a threshold. 13:22:08 From Dan Levine : Do the fades only work in sequence mode? 13:22:08 From Eric Witt : Are fades and bite gains only used with audio and not virtual instruments? 13:22:17 From Charles White : When fades vs. fader automation? 13:22:20 From Dan Levine : And only audio? 13:22:24 From Ray Toler : Put each chapter on a track, use the comp tool to create your perfect take, then use multi-bounce to export each track (chapter) as a WAV file. 13:22:27 From Erik Ibsen-Nowak : Neil: highlight section w/ I-beam tool, use CMD-Y to separate, then drag bite gain fader down. 13:22:38 From Erik Ibsen-Nowak : Of the hot section, that is. 13:23:21 From Glenn Workman : Kenny: If I understand correctly, you can highlight whatever track of multiple soundbites, then merge from the Audio menu to make one soundbite. I always duplicate the Take before doing that. 13:23:34 From rafa badia : Hi Glenn, I´m asking to save the theme changes as a preset. thanks 13:23:40 From Kenny V : Thank youRay I am hip to comping, I am trying to use DP as I have used PT where I can dump unused wave files and consolidate each chapter or track as one consolidated wave file all the excess punches deleted forever… 13:24:13 From Glenn Workman : Dan: You can highlight audio in the Tracks Overview, and use the Fade command in the Audio menu. 13:24:15 From Ray Toler : Kenny, ah. yes, then what Glenn just suggested would be a good way, then delete all unused takes. 13:24:17 From Charles White : Is there a redo? 13:24:38 From Kenny V : Thank you Ray and everyone! 13:25:34 From Glenn Workman : Charles: Fades versus using automation. A fade is “attached” or “overplayed” on the original audio. So if you drag or copy the soundbites to another location the fades go with them. You can also program linear or exponential fades with different arcs etc. 13:25:42 From Kenny V : Merge is the equivalent of consolidate in Pro Tool as I see it? 13:25:49 From Neil McCarroll : Thanks Glenn and Erik, I suppose it’s to find those bits quickly to avoid unnecessary compression of whole tracks - maybe I’m just scared of over-processing! 13:25:50 From Charles White : Ah, thanks! 13:25:52 From Geoff Dodson : Came in late. Will there be an email schedule of upcoming classes. 13:25:59 From Dan Levine : TY 13:26:13 From Glenn Workman : Charles: Yes, default is command-shift-Z for Redo. 13:26:15 From jraoul : shift-C goes to Chunks, not Clips 13:26:49 From Russ Pfeifer : Dave - my e-mail is 13:27:11 From Russ Pfeifer : russ.pfeifer@yahoo.com 13:27:21 From Dan Levine : When you assign a command to a number, do you have to use a numeric keyboard or can you use the numbers at the top of a standard keyboard? 13:28:09 From Glenn Workman : Kenny: Yes, if Pro Tools uses a four syllable word, then MOTU usually uses a simpler one syllable word. Consolidate/Merge. Just like Windows - Minimize-Maximize or Apple’s Zoom. Keep it simple stupid. ProTrolls Separate/DP Split. 13:28:41 From Glenn Workman : jraoul: Remember Matt has changed lots of his command keys.\ 13:28:54 From Dave Hayward : Thanks Russ; got it.. Dave 13:29:06 From Ray Toler : OT - just sitting here thinking, we’re getting almost a full workday of instruction every week from these sessions. So amazing and valuable. Thank you Matt and MOTU for doing this! 13:29:39 From Charles White : Yes, indeed. Very grateful. 13:29:40 From Glenn Workman : Geoff: Topics haven’t been posted yet but they will be here. https://motu.com/en-us/products/software/dp/webinars/ 13:29:41 From Kenny V : Pro Trolls I feel ya. I am so freaking over it and it’s glorified self important attitude. I have used DP from before audio was available. Looking to totally dump Pro Fools forever!!! 13:29:44 From jraoul : GW - yeah, I found a couple of other anomalies — I’ll clean them up in my own key commands 13:30:07 From Russ Pfeifer : Yes! These are great 13:30:39 From Garry Norman : This is soooo useful! 13:30:39 From Craig Hlady : I still get the second file if I double click the first one inn the welcome window 13:30:48 From Glenn Workman : Kenny: ProTrolls must have been a Freudian slip :) I’ve been a dealer/tester/user/instructor since the Sound Designer days with them for Emu/Sequential samplers. 13:30:50 From jraoul : Wow — lots of great stuff, Matt (and everybody on the Chat) 13:31:20 From Caxa : I asked this question about clippings yesterday and it was suggested I look at the track data setting in the clippings preferences. I did, and was unable to solve the problem so here it is again. I set up a virtual instrument with multiple outputs to separate audio/aux tracks and made a clipping of it. When I pull the clipping back in, all the busses to the audio/aux tracks are there, but not active – in the mixer they are dull red like a bypassed insert. Any idea how I can solve this? 13:31:51 From Garry Norman : yay 13:31:56 From Glenn Workman : Craig: Do you have zoom settings to something other than defaults? That might be the cause. 13:31:59 From Ross Levinson : Will it cost us to have access to the Webinars? 13:32:00 From Erik Ibsen-Nowak : Caxa: was your VI enabled when you saved it as a clipping? 13:32:00 From Ray Toler : Caxa - I do that same thing and never run into the issue. Let me open a project and check. 13:32:01 From Kenny V : I remember Sound Designer very well 13:32:02 From James Paschall : Super! 13:32:14 From Caxa : @Erik Yes 13:32:20 From jraoul : SD and then Bias Peak 13:32:23 From Eric Chapelle : Great on Quickscribe webinar! 13:32:41 From chris : Loved SD and Peak and Deck 13:32:55 From Craig Hlady : I d like to see your process with the stem bounces with busses audio tracks midi VIs etc. 13:32:56 From Kenny V : I Miss Bias Peak. Quattro is a decent replacement 13:32:58 From Erik Ibsen-Nowak : Strange. I’ll check mine later today & report back next Tues. Trying to switch over to this method myself. 13:33:05 From Glenn Workman : If you haven’t done this before, to ask a question open the Participants panel, and click the Raise Hand button. Matt will unmute your mic as he goes through the raised hands. 13:33:08 From jraoul : I lost my Peak authorization and could never get it back from the current administrators 13:33:41 From Kenny V : Quattro is inexpensive and has great support 13:33:43 From jraoul : No other editor I’ve found works on native audio 13:33:46 From Glenn Workman : Bias Peak - sad to see it go. Also Alchemy in its day. Too many people stealing/pirating copies and the folks couldn’t survive. 13:34:22 From Kenny V : I still keep Peak on a OX 9 computer 13:34:23 From Reed Robins : Sound designer II!! 13:34:24 From Glenn Workman : Ross: No cost, just waiting till they have time to edit and post them. 13:34:37 From Reed Robins : I left Digi once they killed that. 13:34:45 From Roddy J. Betancourt : try the Svelte visualizer for this 13:35:04 From Stephan Haager : How do I copy from time from the Memory Start-Stop times to the Selection Start-End times? This is something I did in older versions of DP. 13:35:16 From Dave Hayward : Somewhere around the year 2000 when i first went into digital audio I went for DP because I liked its look because it seemed like its mixer looked like a real one. That was even before I knew what a GUI was! I’ve loved DP ever since.. 13:35:17 From Roddy J. Betancourt : try the Svelte visualizer for this 13:35:41 From Roddy J. Betancourt : It has been mentioned a bit on GitHub for KeyCastr 13:36:02 From jraoul : Haager — isn’t that cmd-R or ctrl-R or something? 13:36:28 From Caxa : @Ray / Erik There is a guy on youtube who actually demonstrates my problem but glosses over it instead of showing how to fix it! It’s at about 1min 50sec https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4x-hz0n-Kk 13:36:29 From Glenn Workman : Stephen: The start/stop/in/out buttons each also act like buttons. Click once sets to the current counter time, click twice sets it to beginning or end. 13:36:29 From jraoul : That remembers the selected time, and then you paste it in the other range 13:36:44 From Kenny V : Dave Hayward do you record Audio only on DP? I have trusted it for Squencing for 15 years plus... 13:37:09 From Eric Chapelle : Got to go and keep composing on my new project! I’m on a roll and want to get a final mix with it! Thanks Matt! Looking forward to the other webinars! 13:37:26 From Ken Thies : I've had success with a USB game joystick myself... :-) 13:37:54 From Dave Hayward : I record midi as well but mainly audio… Dave H 13:38:07 From Ray Toler : @Caxa - not able to recreate your issue, but also trying to pay attention here. I’ll watch the vid, but if you want to send me your email address, we can take this offline and I’ll try to help. 13:38:09 From John Boylan : Thanks. I'll try it with my son's joystick. 13:38:42 From richardbryant : This is all really great info! I am looking forward to watching them again. Will there be links posted somewhere? 13:38:53 From jezza : How do I put my hand up to ask a question? 13:39:04 From Roddy J. Betancourt : Jezza, open “Particip[ants" 13:39:08 From Glenn Workman : Richardbyant: When edited they will be here.https://motu.com/en-us/products/software/dp/webinars/ 13:39:11 From Roddy J. Betancourt : participants 13:39:23 From Roddy J. Betancourt : it’s the right most option 13:39:34 From Glenn Workman : jeana: to ask a question open the Participants panel, and click the Raise Hand button. Matt will unmute your mic as he goes through the raised hands. 13:39:42 From dan kaplan : when i do shift T or S for window change a new window pops up (or gets added to consolidated windows) but I can’t make the whole window change from one to another. Is possible? 13:39:42 From jezza : Thanks! 13:39:54 From Roddy J. Betancourt : you got it! 13:39:55 From Glenn Workman : jezza/ sorry it keeps autocorrecting your name to jeana 13:40:18 From Caxa : Sorry got kicked.. hope I didn’t miss anything! 13:41:03 From Glenn Workman : dan kaplan: Matt has changed a lot of his key commands from the defaults. You can change/modify your own in the Setup/Commands window. You can also load/export those commands. 13:41:33 From dan kaplan : Will do. Thanks 13:41:55 From Stephan Haager : Thank you Glenn W. 13:42:35 From Glenn Workman : dan kaplan: You can also limit the number of splits in the Consolidated Window, so for example I don’t like the main body to ever have more than one screen. 13:42:45 From Glenn Workman : I like a few in the left sidebar only. 13:42:59 From David Stowell : Dan Kaplan: in preferences set the consolidated window layers to 1 13:43:41 From Victor LeComer : What Glenn said re:consolidated +1 13:44:30 From Glenn Workman : dan kaplan: Also Window Sets for more complicated switching of window setups. 13:45:15 From Russ Pfeifer : New MIDI Spec??? 13:45:22 From Reed Robins : 2.0 13:45:41 From Reed Robins : Google MIDI 2.0 Russ 13:46:01 From Neil McCarroll : Maybe you could find midi events over a certain level etc. in Event List, then scale velocities or use one of the MIDI filters 13:46:09 From Glenn Workman : MIDI 2.0 - lots of changes coming - more channels, cabling options, networking options, higher resolution, fully compatible with 1.0 etc. 13:46:16 From Russ Pfeifer : Already am :) thx 13:46:58 From Russ Pfeifer : sweet 13:47:09 From Mark Kelso : Has anyone had trouble bringing in the Bricasti IRs all at once into ProVerb? Travis at MOTU having the same issue. We are trying to troubleshoot it 13:47:10 From Terry Leigh Britton : @Glenn Workman - is my hand still showing as raised? I raised it at the very beginning before the crashes... 13:47:18 From Glenn Workman : Yes it is here. 13:47:36 From Kenny V : I think Shuttle Pro has some decent macros that will work in DP 13:47:36 From Terry Leigh Britton : Thanks! 13:48:48 From James Paschall : I’ve done that..copy earlier time and pull it back to present. Awesome! 13:49:04 From Charles White : My bounce has a VI track that’s muted in the first bar. It plays normally. I can’t find muting or volume change in the sequence editor for either the midi track or the aux input. Where else should I look? 13:49:32 From Adam Goldman : not screen sharing 13:50:11 From Björn Lindén : screen share 13:50:13 From Adam Goldman : Glenn tell him he’s not screen sharing 13:50:15 From Garry Norman : Share screen 13:51:03 From Ray Toler : @caxa ok, was able to reproduce by using empty projects. The reason it’s worked for me is that I created all of the instrument busses, saved the clipping, then deleted the tracks, but saved the “empty” file as my new template, so they’re pre-routed. 13:51:52 From Caxa : @Ray Hmm… I tried that…. Maybe I should try it again 13:52:19 From Ray Toler : If you can’t/don’t want to use the same base template, maybe export the busses and import to a new project? 13:52:41 From Ray Toler : It’s an interesting issue, though. 13:53:02 From Glenn Workman : MIDI 2.0 : for those interested in upcoming changes/additions: https://www.midi.org/articles-old/details-about-midi-2-0-midi-ci-profiles-and-property-exchange 13:53:42 From Robert Turner : Glenn... Can you supply directions to upload our demo files to your server? Do we email the file to you? Or is there an upload link available? 13:53:49 From Caxa : I tried saving the busses as a clipping as well…. I will give it another shot after this is finished - thanks for the help! Much appreciated 13:53:49 From Glenn Workman : Charles white: Set View filter to controllers and audio volume only. See if that shows any data in the Event window. 13:54:49 From Glenn Workman : Robert: glenn@freqsound.com - one very easy transfer website is fromsmash.com - no account required just an email (they send you confirmation that it loaded) and recipient email (me). 13:55:19 From Robert Turner : Ok. Thanks, Glenn. 13:56:05 From Kenneth Sarkey : or right click to get folders options. 13:58:16 From Charles White : Thanks, Glenn, will do. 13:58:28 From Caxa : Sounds like the same problem as me! 13:58:30 From Charles White : Must go. Thanks, everyone! 13:58:40 From John Boyle : I am not going to take the groups time on this, because I am sure this discussion is available somewhere; here, the MOTU page, or FB group. External drives? 13:59:09 From tomlewis : Could Matt turn his mic up please? 13:59:09 From John Boyle : What I mean is show me where to go. 13:59:52 From Eric Witt : Sorry, what is a stem again? 14:00:02 From Kenneth Sarkey : Yes, Matt’s mic is softer than other people with questions. 14:00:14 From Glenn Workman : John: macsales for internal SSDs. I’m happy with just newegg.com to by external drives for archiving storage and currently keep only active Projects on the internal SSDs . 14:01:06 From Glenn Workman : Eric: Usually a stem is a submit of some tracks - the drums, the FX, the Vocals, whatever some smaller number of tracks that can represent the whole project. 14:01:16 From John Boyle : Thank you @Glenn 14:02:05 From Glenn Workman : Eric: meant submix not submit - autocorrect again. 14:02:19 From Eric Witt : Glenn - oh like a small group of tracks belonging to a certain group of instruments? 14:03:13 From Glenn Workman : Eric: Woodwinds, brass, drums, strings might be 4 stems for an orchestral production. Those sections or multiple tracks would have been already mixed to a single track/file. 14:04:02 From Eric Witt : OK thanks Glenn. Think I understand better. 14:04:46 From David Stowell : Got to go, Thanks Matt and everyone. Have a great weekend! 14:05:32 From tomlewis : I have this multiple bundles issue when I work on desktop iMac w/ firewire to/from mixer then Load DP files on to MacBook Pro w/ different interface… 14:05:47 From Adam Goldman : option space 14:06:01 From Terry Leigh Britton : @Glenn Workman - Thanks for the rescue back there! :-) 14:06:22 From Glenn Workman : Terry: You’re welcome. I know he’d promised you the other day he’d get to Bundles with you. 14:08:47 From Roque Baños : There is a command for that 14:09:19 From Neil McCarroll : noticed the ‘to counter’ option that could work 14:10:17 From Neil McCarroll : can’t believe I was actually faster than Matt for once!! 14:10:26 From Glenn Workman : Neil: Thanks. 14:10:36 From Kenneth Sarkey : I use markers, and “Grow to those 14:10:51 From Ray Toler : +50 for multi-format bounce. 14:12:33 From Terry Leigh Britton : Dragging Bricasti stuff into Proverb didn't work for me in Windows. 14:13:16 From Terry Leigh Britton : All the Proverb options were greyed out for different folders and for saving presets. 14:13:32 From Ross Levinson : Will those of us that have attended some of these webinars eventually have free access to them? 14:13:36 From Neil McCarroll : Has had anyone had success with Avid Control or similar iPad control apps for DP (10)? 14:14:20 From Glenn Workman : Command-D to deselect all. 14:14:25 From Darrell Smith : Everyone have a great weekend…I love these webinars and the community is quite comforting. Glenn thanks for all your help. 14:14:44 From Glenn Workman : Ross: Yes they will be free when edited and posted. 14:15:10 From Glenn Workman : Neil: I use an iPad program called AC-7. Not sure if its still made, but it still works. 14:15:42 From Glenn Workman : Ross: https://motu.com/en-us/products/software/dp/webinars/ 14:15:49 From Ross Levinson : Great!!! 14:15:56 From Ross Levinson : Thanks Glen 14:16:23 From Darrell Smith : Thanks Matt!!!!! 14:16:33 From Glenn Workman : Neil: http://saitarasoftware.com 14:16:45 From Neil McCarroll : Thank you Glenn - I’ll check it out :) 14:17:05 From Glenn Workman : Neil: in the app store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/ac-x/id928094549 14:17:44 From Glenn Workman : Not sure the price any more, was $5 when I got it several years ago. 14:18:05 From Neil McCarroll : bargain! great :) 14:18:50 From John DePace : How to access these prerecorded webinars? 14:19:40 From Glenn Workman : John: When they are edited they will be posted here: https://motu.com/en-us/products/software/dp/webinars/ 14:20:14 From Ray Toler : Wait, go back, we need a screen shot. ;-) 14:20:42 From Benoit Widemann : Nice collection of Fastlanes :) 14:21:32 From Ray Toler : You can save configurations in Audio Midi Setup for different routings. 14:21:58 From Geoff Dodson : Is MOTU Control no longer available? 14:22:06 From Glenn Workman : Jezza: I’d be happy to help you set up Audio MIDI setup. If you want a quick Zoom after the webinar just email me. glenn@freqsound.com 14:22:12 From Eric Witt : What is AMS? 14:22:23 From Glenn Workman : Eric: Audio MIDI Setup. 14:22:27 From jezza : Great, thanks! 14:22:27 From Glenn Workman : Mac only. 14:22:28 From Adam Goldman : AMS = Audio Midi Setup 14:22:28 From Reed Robins : Eri Audi Midi Setup 14:22:35 From jraoul : Audio MIDI Setup — apple app for routing audio and MIDI devices 14:22:36 From Eric Witt : cool. Thanks Glenn 14:22:42 From Geoff Dodson : Sorry DP Control… 14:22:43 From Adam Goldman : Built into Apple machines 14:22:46 From Eric Witt : and jraoul 14:23:04 From Glenn Workman : Geoff: Hasn’t been updated in awhile and needs to be. 14:23:07 From Russ Pfeifer : Audio MIDI Setup 14:24:03 From Glenn Workman : motuTV on youtube. 14:25:03 From Eric Witt : Why use tap tempo if you can just use a metronome? 14:25:17 From Robert Turner : "Copy Sequence Temp to Soundbite" works really well. Once done, you can change the Conductor Track tempo to the desired speed. 14:25:23 From Adam Goldman : Paul has a recording already made, Eric Witt 14:25:32 From Eric Brown : I have a song that needs this tap tempo, but time really starts at bar 15. can I do this starting at bar 15? 14:25:34 From Adam Goldman : (not played to metronome) 14:25:43 From jraoul : Eric: He’s got a project where the original recording didn’t hold precise tempo. Now he’s trying to get the timeline to conform to the performance. 14:25:57 From Glenn Workman : Eric: You can. 14:26:08 From Eric Brown : Cool, Thanks! 14:26:11 From jraoul : I’ve found “Copy Seq Temp to Soundbite” has varying success 14:26:22 From Roque Baños : Hi Glenn, I wanted to ask if where would be a class about consoles and how to assign them to assign external controllers to parameters like n-panning 14:26:25 From Eric Witt : Jraoul - Oh ok, it was prerecorded I guess so it’s audio? 14:26:33 From Neil McCarroll : Geoff, Glenn: and DP Control has disappeared from App Store 14:26:54 From Roque Baños : Sorry I mean how to use them to assign external controllers 14:27:21 From Simon Foster : thx all - supper time! 14:28:11 From Neil McCarroll : Simon I think you mean gin time!! 14:28:32 From Eric Witt : Thanks Glenn. 14:28:45 From Glenn Workman : Roque: I’m not sure what the upcoming topics are. The day begins anew! You guys rock!! Thanks to Matt and Glenn. 14:33:15 From Björn Lindén : Seen that too… don’t remember how I fixed that tough 14:33:25 From Reed Robins : Make sure the CR2032 battery is still working 14:33:30 From Ray Toler : Ok, the solution is that he needs to replace the battery in those devices, especially if it’s an MTP-AV 14:33:30 From Reed Robins : ? 14:33:44 From Glenn Workman : Ray: Thanks, I was going to mention that. 14:33:44 From Reed Robins : Exactly Ray 14:33:45 From Adam Goldman : +1 internal battery 14:33:47 From Björn Lindén : YES! ! that’s it 14:33:51 From Ray Toler : I had that happen to me all the time also. Changed the batteries and bam. Super solid. 14:34:03 From Warren McRae : Thanx guys.. Gotta go!.. Have a great weekend! 14:34:25 From Ray Toler : Ah, Reed beat me to it while I was typing. :) 14:35:01 From Vanessa Garde : Patch Changes for articulation switching would be great to be able to edit easily 14:35:21 From Ray Toler : I created a list for the Fantom XR with all expansions with Cherry Picker. Good times. 14:35:52 From Adam Goldman : had an older MTPII had to be directly plugged into CPU via USB, no hub, or it wouldn’t work right 14:35:52 From Roddy J. Betancourt : Unfortunate manufacturers don’t really have these hardware setups available for Audio MIDI Setup. 14:36:26 From Glenn Workman : Here’s a link that might help Russ: http://www.danphillips.com/music_tools_patchlists.htm 14:36:27 From Vanessa Garde : middev/midnam files under '/Library/Audio/MIDI Devices/MOTU 14:36:28 From Roddy J. Nice guy! 14:37:21 From Caxa : Mystery Islands Music does Librarians for some hardware. 14:38:01 From Vanessa Garde : http://www.motunation.com/files/CherryPicker3.zip 14:38:25 From jraoul : Does my hand appear raised? 14:38:36 From Ray Toler : Yes, J. 14:38:42 From Glenn Workman : Vanessa: Thanks, the developer website appears to be gone. Hopefully that version still works. 14:39:03 From Glenn Workman : jraoul: Yes. 14:39:28 From jraoul : Maybe he’s just afraid of mispronouncing jraoul 14:39:38 From Ray Toler : IIRC the last time I tried to use Cherry Picker it had the “No” icon over it indicating it couldn’t run on my current system. 14:39:43 From Glenn Workman : Ja-rule! 14:39:49 From Vanessa Garde : Sure! I got crazy trying to find it a while ago and saved that link that seemed to work! 14:39:56 From Vanessa Garde : Glad to help! 14:40:18 From Ken Thies : Thank you guys, good stuff, as always! 14:40:21 From Eric Witt : IN that last example, does that save the instrument and the type of effects? 14:40:32 From George Napier : Thanks Matt! 14:40:54 From Glenn Workman : Eric: It saves all the inserts on that channel strip, so yes it would include the VI and any effects after it. 14:41:30 From Erik Ibsen-Nowak : Have to run. Thanks, guys! 14:42:13 From Robert Turner : Gotta Split. Thanks Matt & Glenn. Ya'll be safe. Have a good weekend & see ya Tuesday. 14:42:24 From Craig Hlady : does ethno open in dvi workdstion to see type key range ? 14:42:31 From Eric Witt : Thanks Glenn. 14:42:34 From Ray Toler : Thank you!
